On the Sunday 17th April 2016, Inverclyde Cho’s Tae Kwon Do Scotland held its 1st Scottish A.I.M.A.A. Open Tae Kwon Do Championships hosted by Master & Mrs Boyle at lady Octavia Sport Centre Greenock.
Again we had great support from friends Master Kallkut & Mr Hall W.M.S.T. Mrs Sarah Hall from Hall Tkd in England and from our A.I.M.A.A. (Action International Martial Arts Association) Scotland family Mr Belgacem Larkhall & Mr Walker Bellshill Miss Kirsty Gough Blantyre, also Miss Kirsty Izat TAGB clubs from Uddingstone and Hamilton and Mr Ross Fisher from Icon Tkd From Fife.
The yearly event seen 120 competitors take to the floor from all over the UK, in the disciplines of Patterns, Point Sparring and Continuous Sparring over 70 division .
Our local students also managed to hold on to a massive 14 Scottish titles on the day, with another 9 silvers and 9 bronze, collecting a total of 32 medals on the day.
Patterns winners were:
1st Place Winners: Leah McCallum, Gillian Collins, and Sam Cox.
2nd Place Winners: Logan Boyle and Ellie McCallum.
3rd Place Winners: Becca McDonald,Michael Rankin,Julie Mulholland and Louis Rowe.
Points Sparring Winners were:
1st Place: Owen Harvey, Alexander Miller, Becca McDonald,Leah McCallum, Ellie McCallum, Michael Rankin,Sam Cox and Ross Derrick.
2nd Place: Liam Laughlan, Logan Boyle, Stephanie Turner and Louis Rowe.
3rd Place: Aiden Bradley and Julie Mulholland.
Continuous Sparring Winners were:
1st Place: Leah McCallum,Sam Cox and Louis Rowe.
2nd Place: Liam Laughlan,Stephanie Turner and Michael Rankin,
3rd Place: Ellie McCallum, Gillian Collins and Jamie McKenna,
A special thanks goes to Mrs Rowe, Miss Fyfe, Mr McCallum, Miss Docherty, Mr McIntyre, senior black belts Ross Derrick, Louis Rowe and other Black belt students for helping out on the day.
